Why Me

My name is Joyeeta Ray ("Joy" to the world! ) - a multimedia storyteller and content strategist with a portfolio that is bigger than this space can fit. 

 

My career began in an advertising agency in India, then travelled to the Far East where my world expanded with the opportunities that came my way. I worked with top multinational ad agencies in Hong Kong and Malaysia, helping international brands become household names. Along the way, I freelanced for the Jakarta Post,  led Thailand's first diaspora multimedia magazine as an Editor,  became a children's book author and a digital content specialist. With each role, I picked up unique consumer insights that helped me craft high CTR content that lives in conversations to this day.

 

Over a decade back, I moved to Canada - a country I now call home. Each new opportunity here elevated me from a Writer into an SEO Strategist with a flair for creating content that converts consistently.

2015 - 2022

 Led NCM as the National Convenor (Brand Advocate), Communications-Planner and Senior Reporter (managing a collective of over 200 professional new immigrant journalists across Canada in a hybrid role, conducting webinars and training workshops remotely and in-person.

  • New Canadian Media (NCM) is an awarded non-profit online newsmedia portal that showcases Canadian multicultural journalism, supported by the Federal Government, National Newsmedia Council & the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ). 

  • I  entered through the mentorship program for professional immigrant journalists in 2015  as a freelance senior reporter. In 2020, I was appointed as to lead the collective as the NATIONAL CONVENOR and COMMUNICATIONS PLANNER. after winning the "TOP STORY" award twice (2016 & 2022).

  • On June 7, 2024, NCM won the Digital News Innovation Award under my leadership, primarily for their newsletter .and strategic communications.

Led a multi-national creative team for Thailand's first and biggest multimedia platform for the 300,000 strong Indian disapora and South Asians that included 3 national publications -

Joyeeta was contracted to work for Barrett and Welsh as Content Writer, on a very challenging and extremely ambitious cross-cultural web project for the world’s largest advertiser: P&G. Joyeeta jumped in at the deep end and to my surprise and relief began to show off in the pool.

She was quick to pick up on the content nuances and quickly understood the demands of this gigantic project. She intuitively wove in brand cues, respected the consumer persona and their journey through this portal and received and applied the creative direction she was given with innate intelligence.
